What we do know about Korats, is that they were recorded hundreds of years
ago in a work called The Cat Book Poems, which now resides in the Bangkok
National Library.
The now famous description of a Korat reads:
'The hairs are smooth, with roots like clouds and tips like
silver. The eyes shine like dewdrops on a lotus leaf.'
Although the Korat is known widely as a blue (solid grey) cat, other colours
do exist courtesy of recessive genes that occasionally surface. These colour
variations are known as Thai Lilac and Thai Blue Point, and are becoming increasingly
popular. However, the traditional blue colour is the only one with which
can take the name
Korat, and indeed, the Korat is one of only three true blue
breeds in the world! See more photographs on our Gallery pages. cont....
